Rita & Brian Baker would like to welcome you to the recently built Stonecroft House. A stylish family run establishment situated in the picturesque village of Stoke Gabriel close to Dartmoor and the English Riviera; Brixham, Paignton and Torquay. It is also within easy reach of the historic towns of Dartmouth and Totnes. Stoke Gabriel known to locals as the ‘Jewel on the Dart’ is a beautiful and untouched Devonshire village dating back to Norman times. The village is very proud of its 1000 year old yew tree nestled in the Parish church yard which sits on the banks of the River Dart. Legend has it that if you walk backwards seven times around the yew tree's roots you will be granted a wish. Stoke Gabriel is famous for its mill pond and crab fishing. Fisherman originally came to the village to fish for salmon and gain access to the River Dart, although it's not only famous for its fishing but for its cider! It is an ideal location for peace and quiet yet with easy access to major attractions. Greenway, home of the late crime writer Agatha Christie is nearby and is now run by the National Trust. We have personally selected a number of interesting events that are taking place in 2010 so please take a look at our calendar of events. South Devon Events 2010
